# Chainstack updates: May 12, 2026

> Chainstack MCP tools now advertise standard MCP annotations for safer execution, and the server reports its real release version on the initialize handshake.

**MCP Server**. Every [Chainstack MCP server](https://mcp.chainstack.com) tool now advertises standard [MCP tool annotations](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/specification/2025-06-18/server/tools) (`readOnlyHint`, `destructiveHint`, `openWorldHint`):

* Compatible clients (ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf) skip confirmation prompts on read-only calls — docs search, status, pricing — and require explicit approval on writes and deletes: creating, updating, or deleting projects and nodes, sending contact messages, and requesting testnet funds.
* `serverInfo.version` on the MCP `initialize` handshake now reports the actual Chainstack release version instead of the underlying library version — visible wherever your agent shows the connected server's identity.
